Year 2

.
Welcome to Year 2
Welcome to Year 2! We are so excited to begin this important and rewarding year with your children. Year 2 is a special stage in your child’s journey, where we build on the foundations from Key Stage 1 and begin to develop greater independence, confidence and resilience. Children are encouraged to take more ownership of their learning, make thoughtful choices and reflect on their progress, all within a nurturing and supportive environment.
At Woolton Primary, our values are at the heart of everything we do. In Year 2, we promote kindness, respect, determination and a love of learning. We encourage children to be curious, to ask questions, and to challenge themselves, while also supporting one another as part of our school community. We aim to create a classroom environment where every child feels valued, safe and inspired to achieve their very best.

Exciting Opportunities in Year 2
Year 2 is full of exciting experiences that bring learning to life! Throughout the year, children will take part in a range of memorable trips and events. We enjoy local visits to St James’ Church, where children explore key themes and stories in an engaging and meaningful way.
We also take part in a fantastic all-day adventure at The Towers Active Learning Centre in Betws-y-Coed, where children develop confidence, teamwork and independence through outdoor activities.
In the Summer term, we visit the Monkey Forest at Trentham, linking to our Science learning about environments and habitats – this is always a highlight of the year!
We also launch our Times Tables Rockstars journey with our much-loved Rockstar Day, where children come dressed in their best rockstar outfits and take part in fun, music-filled activities that build excitement around learning times tables.
