GDPR Update - General Data Protection Update
You may have recently heard that data protection regulations are changing.
GPDR - the new General Data Protection Regulation will apply in all EU member states from 25th May 2018. This will affect how schools manage personal data and how this is protected and shared.
The EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GPDR) is the result of four years of work by the EU to bring data protection legislation into line with new, previously unforeseen ways that data is now used.
Currently, the UK relies on the Data Protection Act 1998, which was enacted following the 1995 EU Data Protection Directive, this will be superseded by the new legislation. This introduces tougher fines for non-compliance and breaches, and gives people more say over what companies and organisations can do with their data. it also makes data protection rules standard across the EU.
WPS has been working to update privacy notices and information, policies and consent forms to make sure we are compliant with the new GPDR.
Please see the additional information below:

There will be a show and tell in class and pupils can discuss their books with other class members. Different classes will be blogging about their favourite books and authors on our new reading blog. Look out for updates on twitter too. @wooltonprimary #Reading Friday #we love reading

Monday January 21st - Visitors from Peru
Despite the snow we have just had some very special visitors from Peru. The visitors were two boys called Eric and David and they spent the day with Year 4. Our pupils were very excited and got to ask the boys lots of questions about the culture and traditions of Peru. The boys speak spanish, which is lucky, as our KS1 and KS2 children are learning spanish in lessons. Year 4 children enjoyed trying their spanish skills and asking questions helped by Senorita Amy. The visitors took part in PE lessons, had a try to our computers in the ICT suite. They said they really enjoyed our school hot dinners especially on such a cold and snowy day. The boys are going to keep in touch by email and hopefully write to us from their school in Peru.

Weather Update – Communication
We plan to keep school open during the bad weather. Please note the following:
- Parentmail has experienced problems due to the large volume of schools accessing their service
- School Jotter, who host our Website, have also experienced problems since the start of the bad weather on Friday
- We are constantly trying to update and send information to you – lots of other schools are experiencing similar problems
To further help communication we have set up a Twitter account:
@wooltonprimary
which can help us bypass any current communication issues. Children will not be able to follow us on Twitter and school will block any children trying to follow us or any attempt to follow that we feel unsuitable. We will continually try to update the Website and Parentmail.
If you would like to be added to the school emailing list please email admin@wooltonprimary.com with your child's class and name.
OFSTED Update
As you know we were visited by OFSTED on Wednesday and Thursday of last week. Although the judgements of the Inspection remain confidential until the Report is published, I can tell you that we are very pleased with the result and I will be sharing the Report to you as soon as possible. Thank you for your support during OFSTED week and well done to all our children.
