Reception September 2017

Starter Dates and Times.

What to expect when

Dear Parent/Carer,

Welcome to Woolton Primary School

It’s wonderful that you and your child will be joining us in September.  We are looking forward meeting you all very soon.  We hope to build a long, happy and productive partnership between children, parents and staff during your time at Woolton Primary School.

We have an induction programme that supports everyone.  Initially we are holding a ‘Welcome Meeting’ for parents of our new Reception Classes.  The dates of the open evening are:

  • Tuesday 21st June from 5pm - 6pm  (Surnames A - Kelly)
  • Wednesday 22nd June 2016 - 5pm - 6pm.  (Surnames Kennedy - Z)

At this meeting there will be an opportunity to look around the school, meet key Early Years staff as well as other parents.  There will also be information shared about the school and some information about the Early Years Foundation Stage, specifically the Reception year.  As there is a lot of information to be shared this meeting is for adults only, pleased do not bring your child.

We would like to get to know your child too and all children are invited to a ‘stay and play’ session in school on Tuesday 28th June from 9.30am – 10.30am.  Parents are invited to stay and play as well, as we have limited space we ask that each child bring only one parent/carer to this event.  This is a chance for your child to meet their teacher and other staff, their classmates and for you to meet other parents.

Starting school in September

All Reception children start school week beginning 12th September 2016.  Initially the classes will be divided into two groups who either attend in the morning (9:30 –11:30am) or the afternoon (1:00 – 3:00pm).  This enables the Reception staff to gradually get to know each child on a personal level and gives the children the chance to get to know each other and used to being in their new school.  At the welcome meeting you will receive a pack with school information, including whether your child has an AM or PM place during the first week and who their class teacher is.

Week starting 19th September 2016 all children are invited to attend mornings and lunchtime together.  This will enable your child to build their confidence in all the new situations they will find themselves in over the course of the school day.  During this week children are to be collected by parent/carer at 1:30pm.  If you would like an individual meeting with your child’s class teacher to share any information about your child or just find out a bit more about the reception year there will be the opportunity to do so after 1.30pm of this week.  Please see your child’s class teacher to arrange an appointment.

From Monday 26th September 2016 all children are invited to stay all day.

We look forward to meeting you at the initial parent meeting but if you have any questions you would like answering before then please contact school.  You can keep up to date with everything going on at school by looking at our website at www.wooltonprimary.com, and our twitter feed @wooltonprimary.

Yours sincerely,

Miss O'Connor
Early Years Phase Leader.
